Description

The Pacific Crest Trail runs 2,663.5 miles from the Mexican border to British Columbia, Canada. This is the southernmost section of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), and the section descriptions listed here on Tripleblaze will be lettered in a south-to-north fashion, as is done in the official PCT guidebooks. The Google Maps locations given here on the Tripleblaze will be for the southern tip of the section in question, whenever possible. <br />

Section A runs 109.6 miles from the southern terminus of the PCT near the Mexican border to the bridge of Highway 79 in Warner Springs, CA. Section A climbs into the Laguna Mountains, and while it is dry and hot and reminiscent of the desert in many places, it stays roughly on the border of the Colorado Desert. Along the way the trail passes Campo, CA; Boulder Oaks Campground; Burnt Rancheria Campground; Mt. Laguna, CA; the Pioneer Mail Trailhead Picnic Area; the San Felipe Valley; Anza-Borrego Desert State Park; Oriflamme Canyon; and Granite Mountain.
